Handling Tantrums

  1. Stay Calm and Patient
Your calm voice helps your child feel safe and more likely to calm down too.

  2. Use Simple Calming Tools
Try deep breaths together, a cozy quiet spot, or a favorite stuffed animal to help soothe big feelings.

  3. Validate Feelings
Say things like, “I see you’re upset. It’s okay to feel mad.” This helps kids feel understood.

  4. Wait It Out
Sometimes the best response is giving space while staying nearby until the tantrum passes.
