1. Introduce the Building Blocks
-
Explain each block in simple words and examples:
-
Relationships: “Who makes you feel safe and happy?”
-
Environments: “What places do you like to play or learn in?”
-
Engagement: “What activities are fun for you?”
-
Emotional Growth: “What helps you feel calm or brave when you’re upset?”
-
2. Create Your “Building Block Wall”
-
Use four sheets of paper, a poster, or even tape paper to the fridge.
-
Label each sheet with one Building Block.
3. Add Ideas Together
-
Ask your child to draw, write, or use stickers for things that make them feel happy, safe, or cared for in each block.
-
You can add your own ideas too!
4. Talk About It
-
Ask simple questions:
-
“Which block has the most ideas?”
-
“Is there a block we can add more things to?”
-
“Who or what helps you with this one?”
-
5. Make It a Routine
-
Revisit the wall once a week or after special activities. Celebrate new ideas and experiences.
