Ice and Frozen Treasures
Freeze small toys, natural items, or manipulatives in ice and invite children to explore ways to melt and free them using warm water, droppers, or safe tools. Teachers can encourage prediction, observation, and descriptive language during play.
Nature Sensory Bins
Fill bins with materials like grass, leaves, pinecones, sand, or flower petals. Children can scoop, sort, and compare textures while building vocabulary and strengthening sensory exploration skills.
Bubble Exploration
Offer bubble wands, cups, and tools to experiment with blowing, catching, and observing bubbles. Teachers can introduce simple science concepts like size, movement, and air while encouraging social interaction.
Scoop and Pour Stations
Use rice, water beads (with supervision and program policy in mind), sand, or water with measuring cups and funnels. These stations support fine motor development, early math concepts, and independent exploration.
