The 7 C's

Competence
Children build competence by practicing skills, making mistakes, and learning that effort helps them improve.

Confidence
Confidence grows when children feel seen, encouraged, and capable of handling age-appropriate challenges.

Connection
Strong, caring relationships help children feel safe, supported, and understood during difficult moments.

Character
Children develop character when they learn right from wrong and see kindness and respect modeled by adults.

Contribution
Helping others gives children a sense of purpose and shows them they can make a positive difference.

Coping
Learning healthy ways to handle big feelings prepares children to manage stress and frustration.

Control
Offering choices and responsibility helps children understand that their actions and decisions matter.

Everyday moments—listening, encouraging effort, and modeling calm—help build resilience that supports children for life.
