Helping Preschoolers Handle Bullying

1. Teach Empathy Early

Talk about feelings—help your child name their own and others’ emotions.
💬 “How do you think your friend feels when you take their toy?”

2. Practice Sharing and Problem-Solving

Encourage using words to express needs and negotiate with friends.
💬 “Can you ask nicely to play with that?” or “Let’s take turns.”

3. Address the Why

Help children understand that sometimes kids act out because they feel sad, scared, or frustrated—not because they want to be mean.

4. Model Kindness

Show respectful and caring behavior in your own interactions. Kids learn a lot by watching adults.
